Dr. Taras Petryk, MD, PhD, is the Chief Medical Officer and Director of the Opora Orthopedic and Trauma Clinic in Kyiv. He is a renowned Ukrainian orthopedic and trauma surgeon of the highest qualification category, with over 20 years of clinical, academic, and administrative experience.

From 2006 to 2024, Dr. Petryk headed the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital — one of the country’s leading orthopedic institutions. During this time, he earned national recognition for his expertise in treating advanced-stage osteoarthritis, complex pelvic ring fractures, blast-related injuries, and highly complicated fractures.

He has extensive experience treating wounded military personnel, particularly during the ongoing war in Ukraine. His contributions to combat injury care and reconstructive surgery have made him one of the country’s most respected trauma surgeons.

A PhD holder and Associate Professor, Dr. Petryk has taught for many years at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the P.L. Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine, training hundreds of orthopedic residents and surgeons.

From 2014 to 2024, he also served as the Chief Orthopedic and Trauma Specialist of the Kyiv Region, overseeing the implementation of clinical standards, the development of regional surgical services, and postgraduate medical training.

Since 2024, Dr. Petryk has led Opora Clinic, transforming it into a leading center for high-tech orthopedics, trauma surgery, and medical education.

His professional philosophy is grounded in evidence-based medicine, respect for patients, and continuous development of clinical teams. His key priorities include mentoring young professionals, advancing surgical techniques, and expanding access to high-quality trauma care.
