He has a degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and an MBA from ThePowerMBA. He is director of the communication agency COM Salud (which he founded in 2007) and coordinator of the #SaludsinBulos Institute, to fight against fake news and train patients, health professionals and citizens on truthful health information, and on improving clinical communication. Among the numerous campaigns carried out to raise awareness of truthful information, the Confianza en la VacunaciĆ³n (Vaccination Confidence) initiative stands out, to combat vaccine hesitancy among health professionals and the population.
In more than three decades of professional practice, Carlos Mateos has combined journalism specializing in health in media (radio, television, news agencies, magazines, websites, etc.) with the management of communication for dozens of health organizations.
From COM Salud and from the Association of Innovators in eHealth (AIES), of which he is vice-president, he maintains an intense activity linked to digital health, with the coordination of events, courses and conferences, including the National Health Hackathon, a marathon for the creation of digital health solutions with health professionals; and the Junior Health Hackathon, in which children and adolescents create health awareness video games. He also teaches international courses on Artificial Intelligence applied to health communication.
