Winni Johansen, PhD, is a (full) Professor of Corporate Communication and Crisis Management in the Department of Management, Aarhus University, Denmark. She is member of the newly established CCTT Crisis Communication Think Tank, European Hub (2023-). Her research interests include crisis management and crisis communication, internal communication during changes, strategic listening, social media, and strategic communication in private and public organizations.
She is the co-editor of International Encyclopedia of Strategic Communication (2018); Crisis Communication (Handbook) (2020), and co-author of A Primer for Crisis Communication Theory: The Fusion of Theory and Practice (2025); Organizational Crisis Communication (2017), and has published more than 180 scholarly articles/book-chapters.
She was awarded the KOM’Prize 2019 by the Danish Union of Journalists and K-forum (Danish community for communication professionals) together with professor Frandsen, for their “outstanding work within the professionalization of corporate communication in Denmark, and for their internationally renowned crisis communication research”.
