Emma Lawton is a designer, author and advocate for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Diagnosed at the age of 29, she has become an internationally recognised voice for raising awareness of the condition and challenging common perceptions of life with Parkinson’s.

Through public speaking, writing and digital storytelling, Lawton has shared her personal journey with audiences worldwide, helping to increase understanding of the everyday realities of living with a neurological condition. Her advocacy work includes publishing a book about her experience and documenting a year of life with Parkinson’s through a daily video blog.

Her story gained global attention through the BBC documentary The Big Life Fix, where Microsoft researcher Haiyan Zhang developed “Emma”, an innovative wearable device that uses micro-vibrations to counteract tremors, enabling Lawton to write and draw again. Today, she continues to inspire audiences with her message of resilience, creativity and innovation in healthcare.
