Susan E. Sheridan is an internationally recognised patient safety advocate and Director of Patient Engagement Emeritus at the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine. She has held leadership roles at the World Health Organization, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), advancing patient and family engagement in healthcare worldwide.

A founding member of Patients for Patient Safety US, Sheridan has dedicated her career to improving healthcare quality and patient safety, inspired by her own family’s experiences with medical harm. She currently serves on the Patient Safety Working Group of the U.S. President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) and is a member of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Lucian Leape Institute and the Future of Health global leadership community.
