Rita Ferreira is an editor at sociedade newsdesk in Expresso, a portuguese weekly and online newspaper. She edits a team that covers several areas like health, education and justice. She has been an editor for 10 years now – before Expresso she worked in Público, Diário de Notícias and Observador. As a journalist she also covered health issues, especially maternal and women’s health, both on paper/ online media and television.
Born in the city of São Pedro do Sul, in 1975, she has a degree in Comunicational Sciences/ Journalism by Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She covered many different areas like politics, education, health and sports. During the FMI intervention in Portugal she worked with film director Miguel Gomes researching for the triptic As Mil e Uma Noites, based on real stories investigated by a team of journalists.
