Daniel Gallego has been President of the Spanish National Federation of Associations for the Fight against Kidney Diseases (ALCER) during 8 years (2018-2026). He is also President of the European Kidney Patient`s Federation (EKPF) since 2020. He received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from Valencia University.
He collaborates with several steering committees and advisory groups relating to kidney disease and health conditions, such as Consultative member of WHO for people living with Noncommunicable diseases active patient programs. He is Patient Voice Editor of CJASN since 2025.
Daniel is a kidney patient since 1993, undergoing hemodialysis since 1995, more than 31 years ago. Nowadays, he is on home hemodialysis treatment. He had a kidney transplant in 1998, but after early recurrence of his kidney disease, returned to hemodialysis in 2002, where he remains today.
