Jarno Habicht has been the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative and Head of the WHO Country Office in Ukraine since November 2018. He has served as WHO Representative and Head of WHO Country Office in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan (2015-2018) and in the Republic of Moldova (2011-2015). He has been working for World Health Organization since 2003 at country level and is involved in numerous international initiatives on health systems and public health.
Previously, Jarno served as a Health Specialist for the Estonian Health Insurance Fund and as a consultant and researcher for various health projects and health information initiatives of the Department of Public Health (University of Tartu) and the Ministry of Social Affairs in Estonia, among others.
He holds a Diploma in Medicine (MD) and a Doctor in Medicine (PhD) from the University of Tartu, Estonia. Over the last few decades, he has authored over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and books.
