Susan Sheridan, MIM, MBA, DHL, is CEO and Co-Founder of Patients for Patient Safety US (PFPS US), a chapter of WHO’s global PFPS program dedicated to creating a healthcare system that empowers patients and families and prioritizes the safety and well-being of every patient. She also serves as Co-chair of the Patient Safety in the Era of AI initiative at the National Academy of Medicine. Prior to PFPS US, she served as Director of Patient Engagement for the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine, Advisor to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Director of Patient Engagement for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute and led the Patients for Patient Safety program at the World Health Organization.

Sheridan’s dedication to patient safety stems from personal family experiences with harm from unsafe care, which propelled her into advocacy over two decades ago. She and her family have been featured in 2 international documentaries as well as major media outlets such as New York Times, USA today and Wall Street Journal.
