Niina works as a communications manager at HUS Helsinki University Hospital, the largest provider of specialized healthcare services in Finland. She has held this position for the past ten years, during which time she has been involved in strategic and operational communications. Prior to this role, she worked as a communications specialist at the departments of children’s diseases and department of obstetrics and gynecology, gaining valuable experience in everyday operations of the hospitals and patient-centered communication.
Niina holds a master’s degree in social sciences (international politics) and has also studied public health, which has strengthened her understanding of healthcare systems. Her responsibilities include planning and executing communication operations for emergencies and major incidents. She has also played a key role in managing communications during exceptional situations. One of the most significant challenges in her career has been handling communications related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
